This Blackthorn Shillelagh is a thick, rustic stick with a solid knob head and a chunky feel throughout. The handle provides a comfortable grip, while the substantial shaft gives the stick a strong and traditional appearance.
One of its best features is the character along the shaft, with fairly chunky natural knots and knuckles that show the distinctive nature of mature blackthorn. Rather than smoothing away these features, they have been preserved as part of the character of the stick.
Finished with boiled linseed oil, the wood retains its natural rustic appearance while gaining protection and bringing out the tones and texture of the blackthorn. This is a substantial traditional Irish stick, great for walking, hiking, or carrying as a distinctive Irish accessory.
