Collection: Shop all Shillelaghs

This is every shillelagh and walking stick we have in stock. We're a small group of Irish makers, headed by Aidan. We cut the wood ourselves in Irish hedgerows each winter, season it for up to two years in our farm shed in the Midlands, and finish every stick by hand.

Our sticks are endorsed by Bernard Leddy, the world-renowned fighter and chief of the Doyle system of bataireacht, the Irish martial art of stick fighting. Members of his club regularly come to us for their sticks.

Each stick is one of a kind. The one in the photos is the one we send you. We post from Dublin to the USA, Canada and around the world, with duties included, so there's nothing extra to pay when it arrives.

If you're in Dublin, call in and see us. Book a time to visit our workshop, try a few sticks in your hand and pick the one that suits you.

Buying a Shillelagh: Common Questions

Are your shillelaghs really made in Ireland?

Yes. Every stick is cut, seasoned and finished in Ireland by Aidan and his partners. Our sticks are endorsed by Bernard Leddy of the Doyle system of bataireacht, and his club members buy their sticks from us.

Do you ship shillelaghs to the USA?

Yes. We post from Dublin to the USA, Canada and worldwide. Duties are included in the price, so there's nothing extra to pay when your stick arrives.

Is the stick in the photo the one I'll get?

Yes. Every stick is one of a kind, so we photograph, measure and weigh each one. The stick you see is the stick we post to you.

What length shillelagh should I choose?

For a walking stick, stand up straight with your arms by your sides. The top of the stick should come to about your wrist. Shorter shillelaghs, under about 90cm, are more traditional and are often carried rather than leaned on. Every product lists the length in centimetres and inches.

Which wood should I pick: blackthorn, hazel or oak?

Blackthorn is the classic shillelagh: dark, knuckled and very hard. Hazel is lighter and smooth, and good for long walks. Oak is the original shillelagh wood, and we only make a few. Couples often choose blackthorn for him and hazel for her.

Does a shillelagh make a good gift?

It's one of the most Irish gifts you can give, and many of ours go to people with Irish roots in America. A good stick lasts a lifetime and often gets passed down through the family.

Can I visit you in Dublin?

Yes. Book a time to call in to our Dublin workshop. You can hold a few sticks, ask questions and take one home with you.
