This Blackthorn Shillelagh features a lovely small knob handle combined with a surprisingly chunky shaft, giving it a substantial and very traditional appearance. The smaller knob sits nicely in the hand and provides a comfortable grip for walking or hiking.
The shaft has a slight natural crookedness to it, but only enough to add character without taking away from the overall shape of the stick. This gentle curve gives it a particularly traditional look and preserves the natural growth of the Blackthorn rather than making the stick appear overly straight or refined.
Finished with boiled linseed oil, the natural colour, grain and texture of the Blackthorn are brought out while retaining its beautiful rustic character. At 99 cm, this is a distinctive traditional Irish walking stick with a chunky build and plenty of natural personality.
